With the price of gas going up as we enter a lovely cold spell, should we all be switching off the gas and going electric?
Fires have become a lot more stylish over the years and are now a focal point that can make an average room into something extraordinary looking. Carpets and all general redecorating costs have come down so much over the years, that having a living room makeover every few of years has become the norm.
Whilst the cost of replacing an entire fireplace is not something you want to scrimp on, there are always cheaper options to get some fantastic results, and electric fires are one of them.
Technology has come on so much so quickly, that the effects you can get from and electric fire nearly mimic gas fires to the point where you can’t tell the difference, and with some manufacturers claiming the effects alone can cost you as little as £2 a year, why get gas?
Another thing to think about is that central heating is so good these days with you now being able to have thermostats in every room and is so efficient, most people don’t ever really need to switch their fire on for heating.
But we all do it because no matter how warm the house is there’s just something about sitting in front of a red hot warming fire when it’s all cold and snowy outside.
