This might seem a daft question, but up here in Cumbria we get it a lot. Usually in the manner of
“I’d love a gas fire but we don’t have gas out in the country.”
Well, you can have a gas fire that runs on LPG (Liquid Petroleum Gas) or better known as bottled gas. The basic requirement is that you have somewhere outside that is safe and secure for the bottles to go. Then we can pipe the bottled gas to wherever it is needed, including your lovely new gas fire.
Most gas fires require about 7KW gas input. If you were to get a standard 47KG gas bottle, that would give you about 100 hours of gas fire usage on high and 200 hours on low. So if you have your gas fire warming your home on low for 5 hours a night, (which is quite a long time for a gas fire to be on) every night, you’ll get 40 days’ worth gas fire use out of your gas bottle. That’s quite a lot, isn’t it?
LPG gas is different to mains gas (natural gas) so the valves in the fires are a bit different, but most of the gas fires we sell come with an LPG version so you still have a massive range of gas fires to choose from. Whether you want an Inset gas fire, an outset gas fire, hole in the wall or even a wood-burning effect gas stove, there is something available for you in LPG.
Plus – You’ll never have to change your gas bottle.
When properly set up, all you need to do is phone your gas supplier and they come to your home and change the bottle for you.
Even in winter when it’s really cold and you don’t want to go outside.
So, yes you can have a gas fire if you don’t have piped gas.
