We’re at Trafford Fireplaces and we’re going to show you how to clean the glass on your stove. You want the glass on your stove to be nice and clean so that you can get a good view of your fire. The dryer your wood, the less muck you’ll get on your glass and the easier it’ll be to clean.

Before you start, it’s a good idea to lay down an old cloth underneath the stove door on your hearth to catch any mess or debris.

There are 2 ways of cleaning the glass.

  1. This is the way most people use which is the normal spray cleaners. You spray it on the glass, leave it for a moment or two and then wipe it off. Sometimes if you’ve got tough tar stains it’ll take 2 or 3 goes to clean it. Try not to get the spray on the paintwork as it can mark the paintwork.
  2. Being lazy, I prefer to use these sponge cleaners. I like them because you don’t need any spray or other cleaners and they last pretty well. They’ve got a nice abrasive side and soft side. This ones being going a couple of months and it’s still alright.

You just wipe the abrasive side over nice dry glass all the bits will come off and then just polish the glass with the soft side and you’re left with nice clean glass. That’s all there is to cleaning the glass on a stove.
