What is Seasoned Wood?

Seasoned wood, is wood that has been stored and left to dry so that it contains less moisture. Generally, it takes at least a year to season wood, which is why it’s beneficial for you to have your own log store if you have room for it.

Seasoned wood can be purchased, however in some cases, wood that is advertised as seasoned can feel dry, but still, be full of moisture. Information to help you determine if the wood you’re buying is seasoned can be found by clicking here.

You can buy Kiln-dried wood to burn on your multi fuel or wood burning stove if you don’t have access to seasoned wood, but this uses a lot of fuel to make and can be very expensive.
